She added: “The harassment he threw at Meghan Markle had consequences. Words have consequences, if they incite hatred against a particular person, there are some who try to do that.”

In a tweet on Monday Clarkson admitted to the backlash against his newspaper column.

He said, “Oh honey, I’d rather mess with it.”

He described a scene on TV show Game of Thrones as “clumsy.”

“I was shocked that it caused so much pain. And I will be more careful in the future,” he said.
